2. What is small carry-on luggage at easyJet?
Every passenger can take one small carry-on item measuring 45 x 36 x 20 cm on board free of charge. This always fits under the seat in front.
Depending on the fare and booking option, a maximum of two free carry-on items and one free checked bag can be taken as free baggage on easyJet.
3. What is large carry-on luggage at easyJet?
EasyJet, along with British Airways, Iberia, and Wow Air, is one of the airlines with the most generous baggage allowances (56 x 45 x 25 cm) for large carry-on luggage.
A large carry-on item at easyJet is defined as having dimensions of 56 x 45 x 25 cm (incl. handles and wheels) and a maximum weight of 15 kg. It is stowed in the overhead compartment. However, its carriage is also limited.
When booking an Up Front or Extra Legroom seat, one large carry-on item is always included in addition to the small one.
In the Flexi fare and as an easyJet Plus! cardholder, you can also take large carry-on luggage free of charge without booking a seat, provided there is still availability.
In the standard fare without seat booking, you can add a large carry-on item to your ticket for a fee starting from €8.99 (exclusively in the app!). If you are assigned an Up Front or Extra Legroom seat during automatic allocation, you are still only allowed to take one small carry-on item.

4. Which items can be taken in carry-on luggage?
A maximum of 1,000 ml of liquids may be taken through security control. Note that this includes not only liquids but also sprays, gels, creams, and even spreads like liver pâté. The respective containers may not exceed a maximum capacity of 100 ml each. They should be packed in a resealable and transparent bag of 20x20 cm. Liquids purchased at the airport can be taken into the cabin. Hot drinks must be sealed with a lid, alcohol with max. 70% by volume may be taken into the cabin but must not be opened on board. For liquid foods such as soup, yogurt, or sauces, only max. 100 ml may be taken into the cabin.
Cigarettes may be taken in carry-on luggage, e-cigarettes (with max. two spare batteries) and a lighter (in your own pocket) must be taken into the cabin. Matches are generally prohibited. All tools (blunt or sharp) or sharp objects and even mercury thermometers must be placed in checked baggage. Only scissors and tweezers with a maximum length of 6 cm and exclusively with rounded ends are allowed in the cabin. Razor blades must have a plastic frame to be transported in carry-on luggage. Knives may not exceed a maximum blade length of 6 cm – according to EU regulations. However, airports themselves often prohibit all sharp objects in carry-on luggage.
Cameras with dimensions of max. 63 x 27 x 28 cm may be taken into the cabin. It must be stowed in the overhead lockers (arrive early for boarding). The lithium battery must be easy to disconnect and remove.
A maximum of two power banks or lithium-ion batteries for portable electronic devices with a capacity of 100 Wh may be taken exclusively in carry-on luggage. They must be individually packed to avoid short circuits.
The dimensions for carrying instruments are subject to the carry-on baggage regulations of your fare/booking. In principle, they may only be taken into the cabin as large carry-on luggage if they, including the case, are not larger than 30 x 117 x 38 cm and comply with safety regulations. If you want to take a larger musical instrument into the cabin, you must book a separate ticket for it under the name "Mr. Music Instrument" with a window seat (not in rows with restricted seating, e.g., at emergency exits or the first row). The instrument case must not exceed the seat width of 43 cm, nor the top edge of the backrest by more than 30 cm. The maximum permissible total weight of the case and instrument must not exceed 75 kg. Although Mr. Music Instrument has reserved a separate seat, no additional carry-on luggage may be taken. EasyJet recommends special travel insurance when taking a musical instrument.
Printer and toner cartridges with a maximum total weight of 500g are not allowed in the cabin but can be transported in checked baggage.
5. What should be considered when traveling with children?
General easyJet regulations for traveling with infants:
- For safety reasons, only one infant is allowed per row of three seats.
- Infants must sit with adults.
- When traveling with infants, seats with restrictions may not be used.
- If you are traveling with two infants, a seat must be purchased for one child. The child must travel in a suitable car seat.
Infants under 2 years old may be carried on the lap without their own seat. EasyJet does not charge a ticket directly for this but a fee of €31.00.
In addition to your own small carry-on bag, a baby bag measuring 45 × 36 × 20 cm can be taken in the standard case. Both bags are to be stowed under the seat in front, which further restricts the space available for both. You can, of course, also book a separate seat for your infant (exclusively via the customer service team). The infant must sit on your lap only during take-off and landing.
Baby food, sterilized water, and milk are not subject to the 100ml container restriction. However, a maximum of 1 liter of liquid is still allowed. You may be asked to taste the liquids at the airport for security reasons. Be sure to observe the regulations for importing food into your destination country.
To be able to sit together with your family, purchasing seats is recommended. If you do not wish to do so, you should check in as early as possible. At easyJet, check-in is available 30 days before your flight.
When traveling with infants, appropriate equipment often needs to be taken. Per child or infant, two items required for the journey can be taken in addition to carry-on luggage. These include:
- Travel cot
- Stroller, buggy, double stroller (foldable or non-foldable)
- Car seat, booster seat, baby carrier
As a rule, these items must be checked in at the baggage counter. However, if a buggy or baby carrier is still needed on the way to the aircraft, this is not a problem. Before boarding, these items are collected and transported in the cargo hold. You can then simply pick them up with the rest of your luggage at baggage claim.
For each child, as with adults, up to three pieces of luggage can be taken as paid checked baggage.
6. What should be considered when traveling with reduced mobility?
Two mobility aids such as wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, shower seats, or electric aids may be taken on board in addition to checked baggage. If there are more than two mobility aids, additional baggage must be purchased. As a rule, the aid can be used until boarding the aircraft, will then be stowed in the cargo hold if necessary, and handed over again at the destination airport either directly upon disembarking or at baggage claim.
If you or a fellow traveler requires assistance due to disability or reduced mobility to navigate the airport and board the aircraft, easyJet will organize this for you. The service itself is provided by the airport and varies depending on the location. Therefore, you should inquire in advance whether the airports used offer a service suitable for your needs. To ensure that everything can be organized in time within the airport procedures, the request must be made at least 48 hours before departure.
Four ways you can make the registration in time:
- Preferably, directly when booking before payment.
- After booking, log in under "Manage booking" and add the request
- Call the customer service team
- Email to special.assistance@easyjet.com – but send this at least 14 days in advance!
If you did not book your flight directly with easyJet, but via a third-party provider or travel agency, you must contact the special.assistance@easyjet.com team directly.
You can find information on which medical restrictions do not prevent a flight with easyJet and information about taking your own necessary aids here: https://www.easyjet.com/en/help/boarding-and-flying/medicine-and-medical-equipment
7. Can I take a dog with me on easyJet?
Apart from guide and assistance dogs, animals are not allowed on easyJet flights. Required papers stating that the animals are recognized and registered as service dogs must be issued by an organization affiliated with either Assistance Dogs International (ADI) or the International Guide Dog Federation (IGDF).
8. Checked baggage at easyJet

9. Sports equipment as checked baggage
One piece of sports equipment can be taken per passenger for a fee. For group bookings, the carriage is still limited to a maximum of 6 large pieces of sports equipment.
Small sports equipment (max. 20 kg) includes: skis and ski boots, golf clubs, snowboards, diving equipment, and paragliders. Booked online in advance, carriage will cost you €42.00.
Canoes, kayaks, surfboards, hang gliders, and bicycles count as large sports equipment with a maximum weight of 32 kg and can be booked online for €52.00.
10. Musical instruments as checked baggage
Any musical instrument can also be transported as checked baggage. Special travel insurance (baggage insurance) for your musical instrument is recommended, especially for transport in the cargo hold.
11. Saving tips for easyJet baggage options
- You can save the most by limiting your baggage to the essentials.
- Booking baggage in advance saves you increased fees directly at the airport.
- If you are traveling with a group, the free baggage allowance can be pooled.
- Adhere to the carry-on luggage regulations so it doesn't become expensive checked baggage at the airport.
- If you book the Flexi fare, a small checked bag of 15 kg is included.
12. My suitcase was damaged - What should I do?
Damage is always annoying and must be reported before you leave the airport.
To report damage, a damage report (PIR) must be filled out at the easyJet baggage handling counter in the airport arrivals hall. In some cases, this is also possible at self-service kiosks. The claim must be registered online at https://damagedluggage.com/ within 7 days of the flight.
For all travelers not resident in the UK, a repair cannot be offered. In these cases, easyJet will provide a replacement that, if not a 1:1 match from stock, will at least be close to your suitcase size and type.
EasyJet excludes replacement of baggage items if the damage is only superficial or only affects the exterior (scratches, dents), is due to overfilling of the baggage item, caused by weather such as water, rain, or snow, or by fragile or perishable items in the baggage item.
13. My suitcase is delayed - What should I do?
It is best to report to the easyJet baggage handling counter as with damaged baggage. Delayed baggage is handled in cooperation with easyJet, the respective airport's baggage handling, and First Flight as a partner company. In any case, you should register the missing baggage online at https://mybag.aero/baggage/#/easyjet/en-gb/main-menu. Here you can also track the status of your baggage.
If the suitcase cannot be returned to you within 24 hours of your outbound flight, you can purchase necessary toiletries and basic clothing for €25 per day per person, which easyJet will reimburse. This reimbursement is limited to 3 days, i.e., €75 per person. Receipts must be submitted within 21 days of the flight at https://easyjet.airlineluggageclaims.com.
14. My suitcase was lost - What should I do?
After 45 days of delay, the suitcase is considered lost. In this case, you are entitled to compensation. The claim for compensation is registered on the same website https://easyjet.airlineluggageclaims.com as the receipts for reimbursement for essential items. The amount of compensation depends on the contents and any purchase receipts for them.
15. Information about your stay on board
In-flight Entertainment
On easyJet flights, the Traveller travel magazine is offered as in-flight entertainment. As a user of a budget airline, as well as generally on short and medium-haul flights, you are responsible for your own in-flight entertainment. It's a good thing there are now so many diverse options to pass the time. In addition to analog entertainment options such as a bound book or puzzle booklet, the digital age offers e-books, audiobooks, podcasts, movies, and series for the time at the airport and on board. If you use streaming services like Netflix, Amazon Prime, or similar, you can download your "TV program" in advance. Pre-created playlists entertain you according to your taste with music, podcasts, or audiobooks.
Which electronic devices can I use on an easyJet aircraft?
Portable electronic devices that have a flight mode can be used on board. Flight mode must be activated on board.
| With flight mode activated |
Taxing (to/from runway) |
Take-off | Flight | Landing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Smartphone | ||||
| E-Book Reader | ||||
| Tablet | ||||
| Bluetooth accessories like headphones, keyboard, etc. |
||||
| Laptop, Ultrabook, Notebook | ||||
| DVD Player | ||||

| Larger electronic games |
In-flight Catering
During your flight, various meals and drinks are offered for purchase from the galley. Free catering is not available on easyJet, as is now the case on all short and medium-haul flights of most airlines.
You can easily bring sandwiches or other food from home. Note that for liquid foods such as soup and sauces, you may not take more than 100 ml due to security regulations. Although food and drinks at the airport are not cheap, you can simply take them on board. Compared to the galley, you have more choice and can still save some money.
Tip: If you are one of those who like to take more food with you, inquire about the food import regulations at your destination. If not everything is eaten on the flight and the import of certain foods is not permitted, you must dispose of the rest.
