1. What is meant by free baggage allowance at Condor?
The specified number and maximum weight of carry-on and checked baggage included in the ticket price is referred to as free baggage. Condor differentiates the free baggage allowance by flight zones and by ticket fare. There are up to 4 fares and 7 flight zones. For checked baggage, the specified free baggage allowance in kg can also be distributed among several pieces of luggage free of charge. If several people have booked a flight together (same booking number), the free baggage allowance can be pooled. This means that the maximum free weight can be used jointly, regardless of the number or distribution of the pieces of luggage being checked in.

2. What is small carry-on luggage at Condor?
A small piece of luggage measuring up to 40 x 30 x 10 cm can be taken free of charge in any fare. The personal item of luggage (handbag, backpack, etc.) must be stowed under the seat in front of you.
3. What counts as carry-on luggage at Condor?
According to Condor regulations, carry-on luggage can be up to 55 x 40 x 20 cm (incl. handles and wheels). The permissible weight varies depending on the fare. In Economy Class, it is 8 kg. For Premium Economy and Business Class, a maximum weight of 10 kg per permitted piece of carry-on luggage applies.
Whether it's a bag, trolley, or travel backpack, ... - compliance with these specifications is crucial to be allowed to take these items of luggage into the cabin and not risk excess baggage fees (up to $150). Additional carry-on luggage can be booked in advance online at a slightly lower price.

4. Which items can be taken in carry-on luggage?
A total maximum of 1,000 ml of liquids in small containers of up to 100 ml capacity may be taken through security. They should be packed in a resealable and transparent bag of 20x20 cm (max. 1 liter). Sprays, gels, creams, and spreads also count as liquids – even liver sausage.
Liquids from Duty-Free (purchased at the airport or on a flight route outside the EU) may only be carried in a tamper-proof and certified bag. The sales receipt must also be in the bag. This is usually packed correctly by the sales staff automatically. The bag must remain sealed until after customs control in the destination country.
E-cigarettes (with a maximum of two spare batteries) and one lighter (in your own pocket) must be taken into the cabin. Matches are generally prohibited. Cigarettes may be carried in carry-on luggage.
Only scissors and tweezers with a maximum length of 6 cm and exclusively with rounded ends are allowed in the cabin. Razor blades must have a plastic frame to be transported in carry-on luggage. Knives must not exceed a maximum blade length of 6 cm. This is stated in the EU regulation. However, airports have the final say with potentially stricter guidelines. Airports themselves often prohibit all sharp objects in carry-on luggage. Blunt or sharp tools or sharp objects and even mercury thermometers must be placed in checked baggage.
Power banks and lithium-ion batteries may only be transported in carry-on luggage. A maximum of two such batteries for portable electronic devices with a capacity of up to 100 Wh are permitted. To avoid short circuits, they must be individually packed.
Printer and toner cartridges with a maximum total weight of 500g are not allowed in the cabin but can be transported in checked baggage.
The carriage of instruments is generally subject to carry-on luggage regulations. Instead of your carry-on luggage, you can simply take instruments measuring 55 x 40 x 20 cm from the Economy Basic fare onwards. Your personal, small piece of luggage may also be taken. Larger instruments that are to be taken into the cabin must be registered with the Service Center and also accepted by Condor. If this is the case, your musical instrument is considered special baggage and the corresponding regulations apply.
5. What should be considered when traveling with children?
Basically: in some countries, special regulations apply to the entry or exit of minor children, regardless of whether they are traveling alone or accompanied by adults (whether guardians or not).
According to Condor regulations, infants up to the age of 4 must be accompanied by an adult or a sibling over 16 years old. For direct flights, Condor offers the escorted travel service for unaccompanied minors. The paid service is mandatory for all children aged 5-11 traveling without an accompanying person. For children aged 12-17, the service is optional. Booking is mandatory on weekdays at least 48 hours before departure via the Special Assistance Team at +49 (0) 6171 6988 978. The service costs €69 or €129 per child and route, depending on the flight zone.
When accompanied (i.e., in the normal case), children from 2 to 11 years old travel in their own seat at more favorable conditions. The same free baggage allowances apply to them according to the fare as for adults.
Infants under 2 years old may be carried on an adult's lap without entitlement to their own seat. Condor charges a fee for this, which varies depending on the destination. There is no additional free carry-on luggage for the infant. Only baby food for the flight is permitted. If you want to use a restraint system (certified child seat, max. 43 cm wide), you must book a seat for it. Except in the Economy Light fare, checked baggage (max. 10 kg, < 158 cm) is included for the infant.
Baby food, sterilized water, and milk are not subject to the 100 ml container restriction. They do not need to be transported in a plastic bag but must be shown separately at the security check. At some airports, however, only a maximum of 1 liter of liquid food is allowed. You may be asked to taste the liquids at the airport for security reasons. Be sure to observe the regulations for importing food into your destination country.
As a service for the youngest travelers, Condor offers:
- Pre-boarding for families with children under 2 years old.
- Suitable menus for children over 2 years old can be ordered for a fee when booking the flight or up to 48 hours before departure.
- Changing facilities in the restrooms.
- Games and child-friendly entertainment in the entertainment program (depending on the route).
To be on the safe side that you sit together as a family, Condor recommends a seat reservation. Child seats are allowed on any window seat (except for emergency exit rows and the row in front of and behind them). If you are traveling with two children, a child seat is also permitted on the middle seat.
So-called pocket buggies are only permitted within the allowed carry-on luggage limits. 2 of the following items of equipment can be taken per child free of charge without registration:
- Travel cot/baby cot
- Stroller, buggy
- Car seat, booster seat
These are transported in the cargo hold. Usually, these items must be checked in at the baggage counter. However, if items like a buggy or baby carrier are needed on the way to the aircraft, this is usually not a problem. Simply have them tagged at check-in. Before boarding, the items are collected and transported in the cargo hold. You will receive them either directly upon disembarking or can pick them up with the rest of your luggage at baggage claim. This depends on the destination airport. For connecting flights, inform the crew that the buggy is needed.
6. What should be considered when traveling with reduced mobility?
If you or a fellow traveler requires assistance due to disability or reduced mobility to navigate the airport and board the aircraft, Condor will organize this for you. The service itself is provided by the airport and varies depending on the location. Therefore, you should inquire in advance whether the airports you will be using offer a service suitable for your needs. To ensure everything can be organized in time within the airport procedures, the request must be made at least 48 hours before departure.
Here's how you can make the registration in time:
- Add the wheelchair service directly when booking your flight or book it retrospectively under "My Booking". There is one wheelchair on board per aircraft. This must be reserved in advance.
- All other services must be requested via a form.
- Via the customer service team at Tel: 06171 6988 978
Condor can only offer to book these services for flights operated by Condor (with a DE flight number). All services are automatically booked for the return flight as well.
Free carriage of up to two manual mobility aids such as wheelchairs, walkers, walking aids, crutches. Crutches and walking sticks do not count as carry-on luggage and can be taken into the cabin. Walkers and wheelchairs are transported in the cargo hold. Usually, the aid can be used until boarding the aircraft, will then be stowed in the cargo hold if necessary, and handed over again at the destination airport either directly upon disembarking or at baggage claim. For this purpose, they are marked with an appropriate label at check-in.
Attention for battery-powered wheelchairs. Whether they can be taken on the plane must be checked in advance. In any case, it must comply with the technical specifications of the ICAO and/or IATA dangerous goods regulations. Short-term changes in the aircraft type used can become an obstacle. However, with dimensions of width 1.27 m, height 1.07 m, and length 1.4 m, the wheelchair can be loaded onto any aircraft. The wheelchair must be registered at least 48 hours in advance.

7. Can I take a dog with me on Condor?
For dogs or cats to be allowed to fly with Condor, they must be at least 4 months old (7 months for flight routes outside the EU). Other animals are not permitted.
Generally, when traveling with animals, consider the following:
- Current entry and exit regulations of all countries concerned.
- Admissibility and possibility of carriage, especially if traveling with different airlines.
- Necessary official* and veterinary documents.
- Any required veterinary examinations or treatments (e.g., vaccinations, microchipping).
For assistance dogs, the following also applies:
- Carriage of an assistance dog must be registered in advance. The same form as for booking assistance is used for this.
- Proof of training as an assistance dog from a recognized institution is necessary for the dog. Confirmation is given after examination by the Condor Medical Operation Center.
- Additionally, for flights to/from the USA, written confirmation must be provided that the dog meets the requirements for travel as a recognized assistance dog. For this, two printouts of the fully completed and signed form for the transport of an assistance dog in the passenger cabin must be presented at check-in.
- The dog should preferably wear a harness. A muzzle must be carried for emergencies and put on if requested by staff.
*On all flights within the EU/EEA, a valid pet passport or an official veterinary certificate from a third country (as well as the required medical documents) must be carried. If you are unsure whether your dog is eligible to travel, you can contact the destination airport before your trip and have the details in the pet passport confirmed. Information on the pet passport can be found at the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture.
The carriage of permitted pets (dog and/or cat) is subject to a fee, limited, and must be registered. For brachycephalic (snub-nosed) breeds, carriage is restricted. Certain breeds and fighting dogs are not transported by Condor.
The booking confirmation and the Checklist for animal acceptance are required as travel documents.

- Carriage of an animal in the cabin must be registered in advance up to 24 hours before departure.
- There is a limit of one animal per transport container. However, there are exceptions for young animals or a mother with dependent young.

- Maximum total weight of the transport container including the animal is 8 kg.
- The container must be securely lockable, waterproof, and bite-proof.
- The animal must be able to stand, lie down, and turn in its natural posture within the closed transport container.
- The inside of the container must be lined with absorbent material. Newspapers, cardboard, or litter are not permitted. Old clothes or a blanket are recommended.
- The animal will be stowed in the transport container under the front seat on board.
- Since the transport of the animal is subject to a fee (between approx. €60 and €100 depending on the flight zone), the free baggage allowances per ticket remain unaffected.
Transport of animals in the cargo hold:
Carriage must be registered at least 72 hours before departure. Freight prices depend on the transport box size and flight zone and cost between €80 and €255.
Detailed information on animal transport in the cargo hold can be found here.

Sports equipment must be registered/booked at least 8 hours before departure to ensure transport. Although registration at the airport is possible with higher fees, carriage is not guaranteed. Transport is subject to a fee. Unless you are traveling in Business Class, then one piece of sports equipment is included in the ticket price.

10. Musical instruments as checked baggage
Any musical instrument can also be transported as checked baggage within your free baggage allowance. The regulations and prices for excess baggage apply.
11. Saving tips for Condor baggage options
- Booking classes with larger free baggage allowances may be cheaper than subsequently booking checked baggage.
- You can dispense with reservation fees for a baggage compartment. The personal, small piece of luggage fits under the front seat. If there is no space for large carry-on luggage, you will always be offered the option to check it in free of charge on site.
- You can save the most by limiting your baggage to the essentials and leaving space in your suitcase for the return journey.
- Booking baggage in advance saves you increased fees directly at the airport.
- Adhere to the carry-on luggage regulations so it doesn't become expensive checked baggage at the airport.
12. My suitcase was damaged - What should I do?
Replacement of luggage is also excluded by Condor if the damage is only superficial or only affects the exterior (scratches, dents), is due to overfilling of the luggage, or was caused by weather such as water, rain, or snow, or by fragile or perishable items in the luggage.
In the airport arrivals hall at the Condor baggage handling counter (Lost and Found), you can report the damage and fill out a damage report (PIR). Or you can use the self-service online. Although there is a legal right to report the damage within 7 days of the flight, you are responsible for proving that the damage occurred while in Condor's custody. Therefore, it is recommended to report the damage immediately before leaving the airport or at least to take photos of the damaged luggage at the airport.
13. My suitcase is delayed – What should I do?
As with damaged baggage, it's best to report it at the Condor baggage handling counter (Lost and Found) or make the report online at the airport.
Link to report damaged/delayed baggage at Condor.
You will receive a written confirmation by email with a reference number (PIR number). Be sure to keep this together with all flight documents, especially the boarding pass and baggage claim tag. It is recommended that you remain at the airport until the data has been successfully transmitted and your reference number has been created.
In case of delayed baggage, Condor, the respective airport's baggage handling, and partner companies work together. You can manage your reported missing baggage online with the PIR number via the Self-Service or track the status of your baggage.
If the baggage cannot be found within 5 days, you should fill out the contents list on the baggage status page. This will be automatically displayed in the Self-Service.
Liability and reimbursement for emergency purchases are governed by the Montreal Convention. Among other things: Be sure to keep receipts, there is a duty to mitigate damages (meaning costs for emergency purchases should be kept as low as possible), not applicable for loss on the journey home.
Within 21 days of delivery of the delayed baggage, you can request reimbursement for emergency purchases via a complaint form. Your claim will then be reviewed and processed by Condor.
14. My suitcase was lost – What should I do?
After 21 days of delay, the suitcase is considered lost. In this case, you are entitled to compensation. The maximum amount for replacement purchases or the complete loss of baggage is approx. €1,500. The amount of compensation depends on the contents and any purchase receipts for them.
