Depending on the fare and booking option, a maximum of two free carry-on items and one free checked baggage item can be taken with Norse as free baggage. Only in the Premium Plus fare are two checked baggage items of 25 kg each inclusive.

2. What is small carry-on baggage with Norse?
A small carry-on item with the dimensions 45 x 36 x 22 cm can be taken on board by any passenger free of charge. It is stowed under the seat in front (underseat).
Carry-on baggage includes backpacks, small trolleys, laptop bags, handbags – compliance with the dimensions and weight is crucial.
3. What is large carry-on baggage with Norse?
Norse, along with easyJet, Wow Air, and British Airways, is an airline with extremely generous baggage allowances (56 x 45 x 25 cm) for large carry-on baggage.
A large carry-on item with Norse is defined by dimensions of 56 x 45 x 25 cm (incl. handles and wheels) and a weight of maximum 10 kg. It is stowed in the overhead compartment and is included in all fares except Economy Light.
In the Economy Light fare, a large carry-on item can be booked optionally. Depending on the booking time (at the time of booking, after booking, or directly at the airport), prices for this vary between $25 and $55 for travel between Europe and the USA, and between $9.90 and $30 on the Oslo - London route.

In principle, instruments may be taken into the cabin as large carry-on baggage if they, including the case, are no larger than 90 x 36 x 20 cm and comply with safety regulations. In the Economy Light fare, taking them is therefore subject to a fee. Larger musical instruments with a maximum size of 140 x 46 x 30 cm may also be taken on board as "carry-on baggage" if a separate seat has been booked for them via the Contact Center at least 48 hours before departure.
The usual carry-on baggage regulations also apply to Norse:
A total maximum of 1,000 ml of liquids may be taken through security. Note that this includes not only liquids but also sprays, gels, creams, and even spreads like liver pâté. The respective containers may not exceed a maximum capacity of 100 ml each. They should be packed in a resealable and transparent bag of 20x20 cm. Liquids purchased at the airport can be taken into the cabin. Hot drinks must be sealed with a lid, alcohol with max. 70% by volume may be taken into the cabin but must not be opened on board.
Cigarettes may be taken in carry-on baggage, e-cigarettes (with max. two spare batteries) and a lighter (in your own pocket) must be taken into the cabin. Matches are generally prohibited.
All tools (blunt or sharp) or sharp objects and even mercury thermometers must be placed in checked baggage. Only scissors and tweezers with a maximum length of 6 cm exclusively with rounded ends are allowed in the cabin. Razor blades must have a plastic frame to be transported in carry-on baggage. Knives may not exceed a max. blade length of 6 cm – according to EU regulations. However, airports themselves often prohibit all sharp objects in carry-on baggage.
A maximum of two power banks or lithium-ion batteries for portable electronic devices with a capacity of 100 Wh may be carried exclusively in carry-on baggage. They must be individually packed to avoid short circuits.
Printer and toner cartridges with a max. total weight of 500g are not allowed in the cabin but can be transported in checked baggage.
5. What to consider when traveling with children?
General Norse regulations for traveling with infants:
- One infant (under 2 years) per adult may be carried on the lap.
- When traveling with children up to 15 years old, seats with restrictions may not be used.
Infants under 2 years may be taken on the lap without their own seat. Norse does not charge a direct ticket for this, but a fee of $135.00. Nevertheless, only sufficient baby food for the flight may be taken - but no additional carry-on baggage.
As soon as the child can sit up on its own, you can also book a separate seat for your infant (exclusively through the customer service team). It may be that the infant has to sit on your lap during take-off and landing. At the latest from 2 years of age, a separate seat is mandatory.
Baby food, sterilized water, and milk are not subject to the 100ml container restriction. However, a maximum of 1 liter of liquid is still allowed. You may be required to taste the liquids at the airport for security reasons. Be sure to observe the regulations for importing food into your destination country.
As equipment for traveling with infants, you can take one item from the following list as free checked baggage (without bulky baggage surcharge):
- a stroller
- a buggy
- a portable cot
- car seats
- or a high chair
As a rule, these items must be checked in at the baggage counter. According to the airline's homepage, these items must be well protected and packaged. There are not enough reports and experiences to know whether Norse Airways handles baby equipment in the same way as other airlines. It is common there: If, for example, a buggy or baby carrier is still needed on the way to the aircraft, these are collected before boarding and transported in the cargo hold.
6. What to consider when traveling with reduced mobility?
Norse Atlantic Airways currently provides no information on how many and which mobility aids such as wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, shower seats, or electric aids may be brought on board in addition.
As a rule, with any airline, assistance can be used up to boarding the aircraft, will then be stowed in the cargo hold if necessary, and handed out again at the destination airport either at the gate directly or at baggage claim. Usually, two of these aids can be taken free of charge. For more than two mobility aids, some airlines require the purchase of additional baggage.
If you or a fellow traveler needs assistance to navigate the airport to the aircraft due to disability or reduced mobility, Norse will organize this for you. The service itself is provided by the airport and varies depending on the location. Therefore, you should inquire in advance whether the airports used offer a service suitable for your needs. To be able to organize everything in time within the airport procedures, the request must be made at least 48 hours before departure.
Ways to register in time:
- Best to add the request directly when booking
- Contact the customer service team
Norse recommends informing customer service via email at customercare@flynorse.com about the required assistance preferably 14 days before departure.
7. Can I take a dog on Norse Atlantic Airline?
Apart from guide and assistance dogs, the transport of animals on Norse flights is not possible. A completed form certifying the animal's behavior and training is required. The form must always be carried with you and shown to the airport ground staff.
Guide dogs, hearing dogs, or assistance dogs are welcome at Norse and their transport is free of charge. However, also pay attention to the applicable entry regulations in your destination country.
8. Checked baggage with Norse Atlantic
Up to 9 pieces of baggage can be checked in per booking.
Maximum dimensions per piece of baggage: 250 x 79 x 112 cm and circumference 300 cm. From October 30, 2022, no piece of baggage may exceed the total size (girth = length + width + height) of 320 cm.
Baggage items with a girth (total dimension) > 250 cm (length + width + height) must be registered with customer service at least 48 hours before the flight.
Maximum weight per piece of baggage: 32 kg, but at least a weight of 2 kg.
Norse offers various additional baggage options. This allows you to adjust travel costs according to your needs. The indicated "from" prices vary depending on the flight route (Europe-USA or Oslo-London) and booking time.
Light checked baggage: Total dimension 158 cm, max. 15 kg. Bookable online only. Fee from $19.90 to $80.
Standard baggage: Total dimension 158 cm, max. 23 kg. Fees here range from $23.90 to $125 (booking at the airport for Europe-USA route).
Heavy checked baggage: max. 250 x 79 x 112 cm (L x W x H) and max. 32 kg. For the maximum, at least $53.90 and a maximum of $225 are due (booking at the airport for Europe-USA route).
Suitable suitcasesdirectly here in our online shop9. Sports equipment as checked baggage
Regardless of the sport (skiing, cycling, surfing, …), all sports equipment is subject to the following transport guidelines for bulky baggage:
- Equipment must be well protected and packaged (ideally in a padded, sturdy case)
- Only pack equipment that is directly related to your sport
- Maximum size: 250 x 79 x 112 cm or, from October 30, 2022, girth up to 320 cm and max. 23 kg
- Sports and bulky baggage with a total dimension greater than 250 cm must be registered with customer service at least 48 hours before travel
- The transport of sporting weapons and ammunition is not permitted with Norse
Although the regulations are the same, differences are made in the price for transport: While fees start from $40 on the London-Oslo connection, overseas flights start from €100 for a bicycle when booking directly with the travel booking.
10. Musical instruments as checked baggage
You can also have any musical instrument transported as checked baggage.
- The instrument must be well protected and packaged (ideally in a padded, sturdy case)
- Maximum size: 250 x 79 x 112 cm or, from October 30, 2022, girth up to 320 cm and max. 23 kg
- Musical instruments with a total dimension greater than 250 cm are considered bulky baggage and must be registered with customer service at least 48 hours before travel
A double bass is not subject to these restrictions, however, there are only two available spaces per flight and it must therefore be registered with customer service as early as possible.
Especially when transporting in the cargo hold, special travel insurance (baggage insurance) for your musical instrument can protect against financial damage.
11. Savings tips for Norse baggage options
- For two suitcases, the Premium Plus fare might be an attractive option.
- Baggage booked in advance saves you increased fees directly at the airport.
- You save the most if you add your baggage directly when booking your trip.
- Adhere to the regulations for carry-on baggage so that it does not become expensive checked baggage at the airport.
- Adhere to the weight limits, so you can spend $18 per kilogram of excess weight on something else.
12. My suitcase was damaged - What should I do?
Damage is always annoying and must be reported before you leave the airport.
For this, you must contact the baggage service staff in the baggage hall at the airport directly. A Property Irregularity Report (PIR) is essential to document your claim for reimbursement. We recommend that you take photos of the damage.
As with all other airlines, liability is also limited with Norse Atlantic. The airline recommends that you contact your travel insurance to have a possible compensation from this source checked.
Norse excludes replacement of baggage items if it is normal wear and tear related to baggage transport, such as cosmetic or minor damage, torn labels, dents, and dings. Damage caused by overfilling the baggage item, by weather such as water, rain, or snow, or by fragile or perishable items in the baggage is also excluded, as is the use of materials and baggage items that are not suitable as checked baggage.
When examining compensation claims by Norse Atlantic Airways (as with all other airlines), purchase receipts must be presented. Norse Atlantic Airways independently determines depreciation.
You can direct questions about damaged baggage directly to customercare@flynorse.com.
13. My suitcase is delayed - What should I do?
As with damaged baggage, go straight to the baggage claim counter and fill out the Property Irregularity Report – PIR form. The airline and the baggage handling service of the respective airport cooperate in case of delayed baggage.
If your suitcase cannot be handed over to you within 24 hours of your outbound flight, you can purchase necessary toiletries and basic clothing within a reasonable limit, which Norse will reimburse. Submit the receipts for this to Norse in writing at short notice.
Is your baggage damaged? Customer service will clarify your questions. customercare@flynorse.com
14. My suitcase was lost - What should I do?
Your suitcase reported as delayed simply doesn't arrive? With Norse Atlantic Airways, the suitcase is considered irretrievably lost after 21 days of delay. In this case, you are entitled to compensation. The amount of compensation, a maximum of €1,385, depends on the contents and any purchase receipts for them. Here too, depreciation may be claimed if applicable.

15. Information about your stay on board
Onboard entertainment
Norse offers onboard entertainment on its long-haul flights. The on-demand entertainment includes 200 series and films and is, according to customer service information, included in the ticket price. An animation program is also available to children via this system to pass the long flight time entertainingly. Internet is currently not (yet) offered on board.
It is best to bring your own headphones from home, as these can only be purchased from the onboard service. In addition to analog entertainment options such as a bound book or puzzle booklet, the digital age offers e-books, audiobooks, podcasts, films, and series for the time at the airport and on board. If you use streaming services like Netflix, Amazon Prime, or similar, you can download your "TV program" in advance. Pre-created playlists entertain you with music, podcasts, or audiobooks according to your taste.
Whether you want to pass the time working on your laptop or relax: USB chargers and power outlets for your devices are provided in both Economy and Premium areas.
Which electronic devices can I use on a Norse aircraft?
Here too, the new airline is still somewhat reserved with information. The following is common practice with all major airlines: Portable electronic devices that have a flight mode can be used on board. Flight mode must be activated on board.
| With activated flight mode | Taxing (travel to/from runway) |
Take-off | Flight | Landing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Smartphone | ||||
| E-book reader | ||||
| Tablet | ||||
| Bluetooth accessories such as headphones, keyboard, etc. |

Catering on board
Since transatlantic flights are long-haul flights, a meal and one beverage service are included in every fare category. In Business Class, i.e., with the Premium fares, you receive two meals included.
limited. To ensure your meal according to your wishes, pre-order hot meals online before departure by adding them to your booking.
However, you can also bring sandwiches or other food from home. Liquid foods such as soup and sauces are less suitable, as you are not allowed to take more than 100 ml due to security regulations. This also includes spreads and liver pâté. Food and drinks purchased at the airport are admittedly not cheap, but much easier to take on board. Compared to the galley, you may have more choice and can still save some money.
Tip: If you bring your own onboard catering, inquire about the import regulations for food at your destination. If not everything is eaten on the flight and the import of certain foods is not permitted, you will have to dispose of the rest.
